Guitars I Love - Fender Custon Shop Telemaster

Images

I LOVE mash-up guitars, real love not just a one night stand - I want to meet the parents kind of love. It just so happens that the Jazzmaster is one of my favorite guitars (God Bless J Mascis), and the Telecaster has really been tugging at my heart strings lately.

So it was with much joy that I came upon the Fender “Telemaster” over at the Make’n Music online store. The Telemaster is a Fender Custom Shop “Master Built” guitar that crosses the awesomeness of the Jazzmaster with the style of a Telecaster. Here are the details for the Make’n Music website:

This exciting new instrument is part of another exclusive run of Fender Custom Shop guitars, Masterbuilt exclusively for Make’n Music. The Fender Custom Shop Telemaster is based on a Esquire / Telecaster platform with a Jazzmaster body shape. Since this model never actually existed, these guitars were designed to look like some kind of lost NAMM show prototype from the Pre-CBS era and they certainly would have been perfectly at home in any vintage Fender catalog. While it may look and feel like a vintage instrument, the Telemaster was designed from the ground up to be true player’s guitar with some obvious and not so obvious features. For tonal versatility two additional, specially designed pickups are ‘stealthily’ hidden underneath the pickguard and the reverse mounted control plate puts the volume and tone knobs in the perfect position for quick adjustments. A 5-way selector switch provides modern switching ability. Additional player friendly specifications include a lightweight Ash body, custom Make’n Music “Big ol’ C” neck profile with Dark Rosewood fingerboard, 1&11/16 nut width, 9.5 fingerboard radius and 6105 frets, Gatton bridge and saddles for improved intonation and tuning stability. Extremely limited production for 2009.

I have always wanted to build a Flying V, Telecaster Mash up but lack the required wood working skillz. Perhaps some where out there such a hybrid exists… if you have seen one, email us details at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
