Guitars I love - Nik Huber Orca

Images

Nik Huber never seems to disappoint, does he? From his amazing Junior to the near perfect Limited his guitars exude quality and craftsmanship.

I first saw his guitars on the DAG site (that I check daily like the NY Times!) and have been a fan ever since. Here is a very brief from the Nic Huber site:

“Nik-Huber-Guitars was founded by Nik Huber in 1996. Since then, the company grew slowly but constantly. Today a team of 5 highly skilled specialists is building around 120 instruments a year. All hand-crafted.Since the first attendance at the Frankfurt Musik Messe in 1997, Nik Huber Guitars gained a worldwide reputation as a serious manufacturer of high-class electric-guitars. In 1999 the expanding company moved to a commercial park in its hometown, Rodgau - 20 km south of Frankfurt/Germany, and resides now in a fully, state-of-the-art equipped workshop.”

But I would say the the Orca my favorite hands down. The Orca looks like a Les Paul/PRS/Collings hybrid, yet it also retains a style all its own. I can help but imagine that is guitar’s build quality is second to none as a result of its German heritage and that is a very good thing. But, seeing as these guitars are handmade in Germany in limited quantity the guitars are priced accordingly (the one pictured is $6549). But, that being said, click on over to the Gibson website and have a look-see at the price of a new ‘59 reissue ($8504 List, $6000 street), then compare the tops and I think you’ll agree the Nik Huber is not too bad at all!
