Recently, I posted about guitar scammers and included a small blurb concerning guitar theft.
Tonight, I was scanning Craigslist in NYC and came across a listing that really made me want to help this unlucky musician get the word out.
Here's what it read:
83 blonde les paul custom (wythe st)

"my 83 les paul custom was stolen from this street. Someone broke into our trailer and stole all our guitars..as stated it's a blonde 83 les paul custom so if someone tries to sell it to you...kill them...if you see it hanging in some shop please get in touch. all the tuning pegs except the high e are brand new. the high e is the original with the built in winder. I've had this guitar since the early 90's and I miss it A LOT. .the case is a gibson case with some camo duct tape and a daughters sticker. I know this isn't going to be me anywhere but I thought it'd give it a shot.."
Man, I'm not sure if I would be able to control my rage long enough to post an alert like this but it's exactly one of the smartest things to do in this situation. It's also odd that I own a maple LP Custom (76) and I know first-hand how beautiful they are to play and admire. I wouldn't want to speculate on the condition of the guitar if it gets returned but there's a really good chance that this LP could turn up at a NYC pawn shop or on Ebay, etc.. If it does end up on the 'net, maybe one of you kind readers could help keep an eye out for it. You never know. It really would be amazing if the power of the guitar community made a happy ending for a guy who is down one seriously cool guitar.
Keep your eyes open for him, will ya? I know I will.
